Onderweg

This is what love is [1]

... is what they say...
Somewhere inbetween Mum's Day UK and the one in the Netherlands, I'm writing a tribute to my Mum. Mam, as is the good sound for me. What about yours? No matter the much you hate or love her, she's still one irreplaceable in your life. This special bond between you, the child she's brought to place, and her, born a 'mam' (okay, or mummy) when you were born, is irreplaceable in your life. Often we forget. We forget about so many things that I cannot keep count of them. Usually, we forget about this special bond keeping us together. What again about the relationships you're in today? What made them to be and what keeps them going?

There's this funny thing I'd like to tell you. About the place my parents live in. My home. Besides the fact the walls are coloured pink - no jokes - you can find hearts everywhere. A small one on the table, a couple of them on the wall and so on. Not too obvious, they kind of blend in (or am I just too used to them being there?) however distinct. Speaking about hearts, what makes a mum more a mum than the love she has in her heart for you, just for you? The love that makes her stay up late, worrying, making you sandwiches, cleaning your clothes, doing dishes or whichever goes for you. Of course the same goes for a dad. Superheroes. Don't want to foster any jealousy here. It's hard to keep them parents equal happy. But seriously, have a think about it. What about your the relationships you're in today? What made them to be and what keeps them going?

Tolstoy's Question

The question, clear and simple, is this: Which of the two laws dost thou regard as binding for thouself - thou, every man of our present time - the law of God, which is thy conscience, or the law of man, which is of the State? Dost thou believe in the Civil Code or in the Gospel? Which command dost thou regard as most binding for thyself, the command of God or of the military statutes? Some have turned aside, thinking to escape from this question. They have wished to conceal it and to hush it up, but you, by having given a clear answer, have trust it plainly in front of all. No longer can it  be pretended that the question does not exist. In one way or another one must answer it. And this is why, no matter how few you may be, no matter even though they torture you to death, victory will inevitably be on your side, on the side of Truth and Righteousness, on the side of simple Common Sense. It is for this reason that the work you are doing, the suffering you are undergoing, unseen by the eyes of the world, is of such great importance, of such tremendous importance. That is the thought which we who share your views and to whom you are affording joy and courage and desire to convey to you.

Leo Tolstoy, 10 February, 1909

Interpretatie van Tolstoj's Greetings to Conscientious Objectors

Feel free!

What whenever things are holding you down... Don't let them! Feel free to live. Maybe you cannot change what is happening in your life, but you can change your attitude towards it. Maybe it sounds cheap, maybe it sounds like pretending that something's not there. But it is, you are not ignorant by changing your attitude, you are actually paying attention and considering the best way how to handle the situation. Choose to live worry-free... Impossible? When we are in charge, yes, it would. But God is in charge and He likes to carry your burdens... He likes to lift you up and see you delighted in Him...

Don't let circumstances make who you are today.
You are in control of your choices. Choose to Live!

Feel free.

Hallelujah! We are free to struggle,
we do not struggle to be free...

WPD

Oftewel, World Poverty Day.

Jezus' hart huilt...
